In a network, TCP sends burst of data during its
initial state due to the aggressive increase of congestion window
(CWND) size. The aggressive increase in congestion window size
causes traffic overload. In our work, we proposed an adaptive
increase of CWND in TCP Vegas congestion control mechanism.
TCP Vegas is a well known delay based mechanism that
outperforms other TCP variants. We test our proposed scheme in
wireless IPv4 and IPv6 networks by using Network Simulator 2
(ns2). Our simulation results show that the adaptive increase of
TCP Vegas’ CWND improves the performance of TCP.
