The project demonstrate that rubber tyre dust production has great potential to be futher developed into a practical absorption material for reducing transportation noise. Waste tyres fine dust and rice straw (an agricultural lignocellulose) composite boards were used to make sound insulation composite board using the same methods as that used in the wood-based panel industry. Rice straw content was varied 10%, 20% and 30% by weight and commercial polyurethane adhesives was used as a binder. The production cost very cheaponly abaout RM1 for 25 cm x 25 cm size board.
