In this modern manufacturing Industry, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) lathe machine is diminishes away the traditional manually operated lathe machine. However, most of the Higher learning Institutions and Skills Training Institution as well as small scale industries still using the traditional machines. Standard chuck-key for the traditional lathe machine is of the fixed “T” shape with the stem welded to the handle. In most cases, the key always stuck to the machine’s frame and increased the work piece setting time during machining process. This will increase the production cost for small scale industries and increase the training time in the training institution especially for
the new students.
Objectives of this paper are to propose and designed a new Ergonomic chuck key to overcome or reduce problems arising from using the standard chuck-key. This chuck key already designed and fabricated. The chuck key also successfully tested in the machining workshop in UiTM.
