Oxidation behavior of AISI 304 steel in presence of Na2 SO4 and K2 SO4 at 900°C
Abstract
Steels with high Cr- and Ni-contents utilized at elevated temperatures are oxidation resistant due to the formation of slowly growing, protective chromium oxide layers [1,2]. Na2SO4 or K2SO4 alone or in synergistic combination with liw levels of salts of other elements are capable to propragate an accelerated attack known as high temperature oxidation.
