Data analysis of noise at different school of environment
Abstract
This research concentrates on the investigation of different existing school environment’s noise exposures to determine the most suitable surrounding for schools and effects of noise exposure to students and teachers. Three different environments noise will be chosen to be analyzed. The first environment is located at the urban area, surrounded by vehicles and medium that generates sounds or noise. The second spot is within the city but located not far from the street with lesser noise or sound that generate by the vehicles. The third school is situated with a greater distance from the city, having the least vehicle surrounding and least noise or sound generated. In this research, we are using the Blue SOLO equipments from 01dB to measure the noise and sound in decibel (dB) unit. The sample data measurements were recorded every 15 minutes (7.00am-10am, 12.00pm-2.00pm, 5.00pm-7.00pm, and 10.00pm-12.00am) for one day at each school with different school environment. Subsequently, the Leq, L10, L50 and L90 noise index percentiles were identified and data analyses were done on the data samples. The study revealed that the noise level exposure experienced by the students and teachers exceed the Department of Environment’s (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), Malaysia guidelines. The result shows the schools located at the urban area are more expose to the noise.
