An analysis of the operational problems at packing station of Kilang Gula Felda Perlis Sdn. Bhd
Abstract
Manufacturing high-quality products at the lowest possible cost requires an
understanding of the often complex relationships among many factors. In the
manufacturing shop floor, the process and the product quality are the important aspect to
be taking care. Globally manufacturing are aiming for the further improvement. In
United States, continuous improvement in quality always have it major priority. While
in Japan, the single term kaizen is used; it signifies never-ending improvement. Thus,
major advances in quality engineering and productivity have been made.
This project is undergoes at Kilang Gula Felda Perlis Sdn.Bhd (KGFP), which
aim for the continuous process improvement over the packaging station. Candidate
require to understanding a dedicated process in real plant, identify the problems and the
causes that bring low quality and productivity embedded in the process. By using the
quality tools (which include pareto analysis, histogram, bar chart, flow-chart, check
sheet, scatter diagram, cause-n-effect analysis, brainstorming, 7 new management tools,
etc) and engineering tools, candidate needs to have the problem’s data present, have
analysis prior to have the problems statement. Gathering all the comment, data,
knowledge and relevant research, candidate needs to proposed an improvement method
and implement it on the real plant. Analysis works using the quality tools and
engineering tools need to be performed to verify indeed the process has improved.
