dc.description.abstract | Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has lead to the development of interest in various fields
due to their great number of potential applications such as in industry and research. Sensor nodes are battery-powered and will be discarded after a period of time. Thus, energy consumption plays a crucial challenge in the design and development of WSN protocols designing. This dissertation presents a new optimization (Taguchi) method to assist the development of intelligent MAC protocol for WSN. The proposed method in this dissertation starts by investigation and analysis of different parameters in IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol such as maximum transmission unit (MTU), slot time, retry limit, and contention window using to conserve energy consumption, better network performance and robustness The investigation and analysis were performed under varying network environments and for several different evaluation metrics. The obtained results show that there is an improvement in network performances in terms of energy consumption, delay, packet delivery ratio (PDR) and throughput at the same time. | en_US |
