    Abstract
    Biphasic Calcium Phosphate is a bioactive compound which consist of Hydroxyapatite (HAp) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) which are essential components in the bone and are commonly used in bone regeneration. The aim of this project is to characterized the BCP and observe the effect of the parameters towards the samples. The BCP is produced by using sol-gel method where the process conditions of variations (stirring, aging time and sintering temperature) were taken into consideration. The samples produced were then characterized using FTIR, XRD and SEM to observe the functional groups, particle size, crystallinity, and phase determination. From the results obtained, we conclude that the samples had similar functional groups as the standard BCP which are v3 PO43-, CO32-, OH, and HPO42-. Moreover, the results showed that temperature has an effect on the crystallinity and phase of the samples. Increase temperature, will increase crystalline and alter Ca/P phase. In this work, the most influence temperature is 800 ˚C which was observe in sample 2 and sample 5. Furthermore, it is concluded that 700 rpm is the most suitable agitation rate to obtain the smallest size of particle which can be observe in sample 5.
