    Abstract
This study was conducted to analysis the mat and shallow foundation for high rise building. In Malaysia, many types of buildings including a foundation to build a raft and shallow foundation. Building a solid foundation that guarantees the future of durable structures. The basic requirements of the building and so the overall structure is required because the total cost of building and life associated with it. Shallow foundation is a foundation that frequently change the load of the building to the ground very close to the surface, instead of the subsurface or scope is not as deep foundation. Therefore, the objective of this study is focused to get soil data and relevant information about the case studies on the basis of the high-rise buildings. In addition, attention is also given to the design of the raft foundation and basis for the use of shallow high-built or built. A fundamental redesign of the building should be taken into account in terms of cost, type of land the construction site, the characteristics of a foundation of a building and the bearing capacity of the soil at the construction site of a building. There are many differences between the two basic types are studied in terms of design. Results from the analysis results that have been made in terms of all the factors taken into account, the raft foundation is the most appropriate basis for building higher than the shallow foundation. In addition, the comparison between the foundation and the foundation raft shallow in terms of deposition. Based on the results, the raft foundation had no sedimentation in. Cost of a separate building to another at any point in comparing the pad has continued to bear the brunt of the track pad. From the results, shallow foundation have higher settlement compare raft foundation. For value settlement pad footing higher is 0.0419 m2 and the value settlement raft foundation is 0.00326 m2. Therefore, this analysis was made to determine the difference between the two basic types are suitable for high-rise buildings. As analysis of mat and shallow foundation for a high rise building, I can conclude that raft foundation suitable for high rise building. The settlement, costing and stability more to recommendation raft foundation compare to pad footing.
