The characterization and properties of Polypropylene (PP)/Recycled Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBRr)/Feldspar, Zinc oxide composites
Abstract
Generation glove acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBRr) waste was high demand due to non-synthetic allergic to skin as compared with latex glove. In order to overcome the waste generation on NBRr Glove, it was recycled and used in this study rather than being dumping at landfill site. Polypropylene was used in term of fabrication with required strength, while filler was used to fill the empty space between composite for supporting the strength. This study has been conducted to compare zinc oxide and feldspar content (70/30/0, 70/30/5, 70/30/10, 70/30/15, 70/30/20, 70/30/30 phr) filled on feldspar and zinc oxide with a fixed value (70/30) Polypropylene (PP) and recycled acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBRr) gloves. The method used in this study were tensile test, fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry, morphology by using SEM, and x-ray fluorescence (XRF) for chemical composition. Those method was applied and has managed to evaluate the mechanical, morphological properties and characteristic of PP/NBRr/Feldspar and PP/NBRr/Zinc Oxide composite. The properties and characteristic of the composite was tested in tensile test. The result of tensile strength feldspar composite with filler loading 70/30/5 was 19.68 MPa,while the result of tensile strength ZnO composite with filler loading 70/30/5 was 18 MPa.From the result obtained, showed that the properties of feldspar has better than ZnO. The fourier transform infrared (FTIR) supported the functional group of feldspar through bonding si-o-si that has strong bonding compared to zinc oxide. Result from morphology also supported the result of tensile test
