This research study is about the optimization of antibacterial activity by using fruits and leaves extract of Hibiscus Sabdariffa (H. sabdariffa) on Acne Vulgaris. Acne Vulgaris is a type of skin disease that usually diagnosed among teenager and can be treated by using antibiotic which is known as a type of chemical medicine. Propionibacterium acne (P. acnes) is a major type of bacterium that can cause acne. However, other type of skin flora such as Staphylococcus sp, Straptococcus sp and Corynebacterium sp can also cause acne too. However, there is a huge problem with antibiotic resistance which urge worldwide to find another alternative that also treat various type of diseases. H. sabdariffa or widely known as Roselle is a type of medical plant that now getting place at medical research field as an effort to replace chemical medicine and this plant can easily get in Malaysia. An extraction was done to the fruits and leaves of H. sabdariffa to extract out antibacterial content to inhibit growth of bacterial strain isolated among student in Uniciti Alam, UniMAP that diagnosed to have moderate to severe Acne Vulgaris. Three type of bacteria strains were found to be dominated from acne sample isolated from 10 Acne Vulgaris patients and were named AP A, AP B and AP C. However, bacteria strain AP A was found to be majority and thus chosen to be tested in this study.en_US
