Kesinai or scientifically known as Streblus asper (Family: Moraceae) is a small tree found in Malaysia, Philippines, China and India and also other tropical and sub-tropical countries. It has been reported that kesinai used for several medicinal, food, detergent, leather, pharmaceutical purposes and different parts of the plant can be used for various applications. In Malaysia, the leaf extract of this plant is determined to contain a milk coagulating protease which would be a potential rennet substitute.
