dc.description.abstract | The effect of fibre reinforcement and resin content on moisture uptake in composite
laminate was investigated. Three materials using identical epoxy resin systems but
different reinforcements glass, kevlar and carbon fibers and immersed in metyl ethyl
keton( MEK ) solven were examined. Samples were characterized by DSC in terms of
percent of resin in prepreg. Mechanical and thermal properties including tensile modulus,
tensile strength, and glass transition temperature were measured. Expired graphite show the highest modulus than good graphite. Modulus value of expired graphite is 56.96 GPa while good prepreg only 32.503 GPa. Young’s modulus whether good or expired
fiberglass show the lowest value that is in range 1.45 GPa to 2.45 GPa. Results clearly
show the contribution of the fiber reinforcement as well as resin content percentage rate and mechanical property changes. For resin content all sample show the the percentage of volume fraction in range. | en_US |
