Synthesis and electrochemical characterisation of copper oxide using thermal oxidation for glucose detection application
Abstract
Copper is material which is good in electrical and thermal conductivity since it
is malleable and machinability. The pure copper with 99.9% of its composition can be
categorized into standard UNS C11000 ETP. Copper oxide presents the speciality
character in detection glucose for diabetes patient. However, copper oxide has high
challenge in the making glucose detection because of nanosize and reaction between
Copper oxides to glucose molecule. This project is to synthesis copper oxide from
copper plate using thermal oxidation process in low temperature. Copper will be
oxidized in range of 400 degree to 800 degree Celsius. The Cu₂O phases were increase
when the temperature increases. The copper oxide will characterize using XRD, SEM,
optical for physical properties. Reliability and detection mechanism of the copper oxide
electrochemical performances of the electrode for detection of glucose were
investigated by cyclic voltammetry.
