dc.description.abstract | The aim of the study is to analyze the flow characteristics of the powered inhaler accessory device (PIAD), ranging from vortex development and two phase mixture of the inhaler drug. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of the flow field in the inhaler, connected to a spacing device is used to determine how the inhaler dispersion performance varied as the device flow rate is increased. There are many types of inhaler accessory device like metered dose inhalers (MDI), MDI with spacers, dry powder inhalers (DPI), breath-actuated MDIs (BA-MDI) and nebulizers. So, this project focuses solely on MDI with spacers to analyze its flow characteristics such as total pressure, average velocity and mass flow rate by using CFD analysis. The motor rotational speeds affect the distribution of fluid delivered through the spacer. As rpm increases, the more air is to evenly distribute in the spacer. | en_US |
